Summary

This proposal officially opens up the application window to new members for the next Communication & Marketing League Mandate (M4).

C&M League specs:

  • Mandate Duration: 3 months since the closure of elections’ snapshot poll;
  • Budget Management: N-of-M MultiSig wallet (depending on final Leagues members after applications). One key per member (Advisors and Contributors).

Areas of Responsibility:

Marketing Management:

  • Management and proposal of marketing operations and initiatives such as competitions and collaborations with DeFi-related and prominent CT profiles.
  • Defining and developing an effective community management strategy;
  • Assist Idle DAO and community in growing and managing Telegram, Discord, and other social media channels.
  • Promote Idle DAO and products on social channels such as Twitter Spaces, Reddit, and other channels if promising.
  • The role also includes participating in community calls, contributing to the production of educational community materials, and collaborating with Idle Ambassadors of different campaigns.

In general, these guidelines help candidates to better position themselves and give Leagues’ members a starting point for shaping out the compensation plan and workflow.

Yet, experience and area of expertise have marginal importance when building complex projects from scratch, particularly in an experimental space like DeFi.

What does matter is a burning desire to learn more, constantly improve yourself, and solve tricky problems on a daily basis. However, as we took an incrementally growing structure for Idle Leagues, you can assure yourself that whatever you contribute (in terms of an engineer or otherwise) is always heard and discussed.

First Work Period Assessment

Selected applicants will enter a 2-week sprint phase, where they would receive the midpoint compensation for their seniority level. After this bootstrap sprint, current Leagues members will discuss the final seniority level that will be held for the mandate.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly help contributors with day-to-day marketing operations
  • Serve as a sounding board off of which Leagues members can bounce new ideas
  • Intervene in conflicts between League members when necessary
  • Be knowledgeable of policies that may impact the organization’s decisions, programs, etc.
  • Provide an outside view or perspective
  • Provide Leagues with DeFi and community connections

Introduction:

Hello Idle Fam!

My name is Avi and I’m a marketing and communications specialist. I’ve been working in marketing for about three years now - this includes working with brands off the blockchain and projects built on blockchain. I got into crypto about a year back when I lost my job due to the pandemic. I believe that’s the best thing that happened to me as this showed me the path to the ‘Metaverse’ and a whole new set of ideas and people that I was not familiar with.

Work experience in crypto -

  1. I started as a moderator with LGCY.Network. Moderated and managed their community in the early days of the project.

  2. With the experience I got at LGCY I was confident enough to apply for more moderation roles.
    Worked with three more projects; MoonStarter (Launchpad - 43K members), Polkacipher (Cross-chain NFT platform - 10K members), and Defactor (Defi - 11K members). I managed these TG groups from Pre - IDO stage to post IDO. Working with these projects I learned about NFTs, launchpads, and Defi. I also understood the different audiences each project attracts and how to manage FUD and keep the community engaged and active.

  4. I wanted to learn more about NFTs so I applied for a position with a project called Zoo Gang - I provided them with a team of moderators, created their Discord server, and managed their community throughout the pre - mint, and post-mint stage. I also organised a sticker-making competition to interact with our community and get some killer stickers in the process.

  5. Being from a marketing background I saw that there was a need for a dedicated marketing service in this space that provided projects with genuine influencers (CT & YouTubers) and catered to the needs of crypto projects so I started an agency called Blockfluence.

Blockfluence specialises in influencer marketing, Public Relations, providing projects with moderators, and organising AMAs. Created in May 2021, we’ve serviced over 7 clients to date including the likes of Glitch.Protocol, Gpool, and Transient.

Through Blockfluence I have added several valuable influencers to my network. BitBoy Crypto, Data Dash, Satoshi Stacker, Alexandrus, Flozin, and Professor Crypto to name a few. After using our marketing services our clients’ TG groups saw an increase in the number of members joining in and there was more chatter about their projects online.

Motivation:

  • I first heard about Idle through Spectre group and have been following it ever since
  • I find the idea behind Idle amazing and would love to be associated with a team that is doing such groundbreaking work in the Defi space
  • Last but not least, the Idle community is amazing!

Motivation :

My motivation is ever-expanding in web3 and I have joined countless DAOs and have been a frequent participant. I was in the first 200 of the Constitution DAO, an early believer (early-2020) in ENS, and frequent often in OlympusDAO and SeedClub. My main thesis of crypto is to start building a bridge between web2 and web3 to bring some of the brightest minds to this new world. I am passionate and energetic about this mission and I want to work on a team that allows me to embrace that and supports me as an employee building our mission together.

Role and Seniority levels: Advisor for product design.

Introduction: I have 3-year of working experience as a UX and UI designer, both with web and iOS app. First, doing user testing, then working for a consultancy company. Currently, I’m working as a product head in a start-up.

Areas of responsibility: I would like to improve the Idle user experience firstly by following the new brand identity and Idle communication theme. Then, by focusing mainly on the product dashboard itself.

Motivation: I have already worked together with the Idle founding team in the design of the idle.finance website and its dashboard. Thanks to this experience, I have a sound knowledge of Idle and I think I could easily collaborate with Idle Leagues.

Before sharing Leagues feedbacks on each applicant and opening the community vote, we would like to assess the fitness of candidates in their field of interest.

Hello! I messaged the Discord because I have some high-priority family tasks that I need to complete by this afternoon and I didn’t have time go through and edit the draft. I basically put all of my thoughts on paper as I went through the site, discord, and other publicly available information. Normally, I am a very tangible and analytics-based person, but in this case, I didn’t have the time to complete the due diligence that I normally conduct. Hey everyone,

I know it’s way past the deadline but I just wanted to share what I had prepared for this assignment as I had fun working on it. I was travelling and didn’t have internet access for a couple of days so I wasn’t able to submit it on time.

I understand that this isn’t fair to the other participants but I hope the team still takes it into consideration. That being said, open to feedback from the DAO to work on my suggestions and learn more from this assignment.

:alarm_clock: UPDATE: Tasks Submitted by Candidates - C&M League’s Feedback

As said above in the previous messages, 3 candidates sent us their submissions of the task published last week before the deadline, and 1 candidate sent it after the deadline. Leagues will proceed to add them all as official candidates into the elections polls since they showed interest by submitting the tasks and gave us the opportunity to evaluate their profiles better.

Here’s the feedback from the C&M League for the following submissions:

  • @jackson

    It’s the opinion of C&M League that Jackson is an experienced growth marketer whose strategic approach might benefit Idle in restructuring the marketing activities. His structured approach to growth is something to be considered.

    His experience in contributing to other DAOs and Discord communities seems on point with the approach of engaging the community, finding new distribution channels, and afterward leveraging the network effects of the community.

    The only potential drawback is that in practice (given the assignment) it will take 6 weeks to complete the first research phase of the work (Community Clarity), and afterward even more to complete the customer profiles, define leveraged networks, and engagement hierarchy. It wasn’t clear when the execution part following the research phase could start. We would also have liked him to elaborate on the reason why the main focus channel would be Discord.

    It’s the impression of the C&M League that Jackson’s vision of the role would be more strategic-focused - mapping out the ecosystem, discovering opportunities, and focusing on aligning current and new community incentives. While the execution part of the job isn’t quite clear, Jackson, with his experience and strategic approach, could be considered a valuable contributor to the C&M League.

  • @luke
    Luke seems more oriented towards community management rather than growth marketing. As it could be argued that growth in web 3.0 space = community growth, Luke could be considered an amazing contributor to the C&M League.

    Luke attended Idle DAO office hours for a consultation and asked his questions. He showed passion, energy, and a will to learn. He also expressed the attitude of growing the community in a more natural way by providing value to the users and teaching them.

    The lack of experience is an obvious potential drawback that could be compensated with the passion and dedication Luke is showing. He touched base with NFT and DeFi projects as well as DAOs.

  • @albertinospecie

    Ediri has vast experience in the cryptocurrency market, and probably good contacts in the space.

    It is the opinion of the C&M League that he would not be best suited for this role, as the role looking to be filled is more marketing-focused. Also, Ediri showed interest in expanding the B2C network, while Idle has a very important segment of B2B (in integrators, DAO treasury managers etc). However, we’d like to see Ediri apply for an advisor role (if that’s something he’d be willing to consider).

    His contacts in the space and experience with the business development aspect of blockchain could be something that could benefit Idle DAO.

  • @Avi

    Has proven experience in community management and administration. Specialized in influencer marketing and PR. Avi participated in the Idle DAO office hours thereby showing his willingness to put in the effort and showed great experience in using influencers’ paid services.

    Overall, while Avi can provide short-term brand recognition with his marketing tactics, the C&M League has concerns about the required skill set for long-term and healthy growth because of the focus on using paid influencers. Idle DAO strategy is directed towards other types of marketing campaigns.

    While there is no doubt in Avi’s experience in running short-term growth tactics (as showcased in the assignment), there is a potential drawback in reducing the quality of Idle’s content and communication while attracting the audience looking to pursue quick pumps. As C&M League we believe this candidate is not fitting with the current marketing strategy of Idle DAO.
